This weekend promises to follow the rest and produce exciting Collegiate Field Hockey across the Country. With the Big Ten and the ACC continuing their dominance in D1, University Park, PA is going to be the hot spot of the weekend. #13 Penn State, the reigning National Runner-up will host the #10 University of Virginia Cavaliers and the #5 University of Iowa Hawkeyes this weekend. Check out PSU's write up of the weekend. Although I already knew PA was a hotbed for HS field hockey, I was surprised to see how many girls from these 3 teams are representing the Keystone state. Wake Forest will travel to the Mid-West to also play 2 Big Ten teams this weekend, Michigan State and Northwestern.
#1 Ranked Maryland will host Duke and U Penn this weekend in efforts to maintain their spot on top. The NCAA has a blog series written by athletes from various sports and divisions. Sarah Scholl, a Senior on the Terapin Field Hockey team has been writting updates on her experiences as a student-athlete all season, check it out.
#2 Syracuse will battle Georgetown and American University in hopes to continue their unbeaten streak. Do you think they can do it? We'll find out...

Thank you for you patience and participation on our site. We are working hard to add all of the necessary features and make sure your team is ranked properly! At this point, every HS Field Hockey team in the nation should be listed on the site with scores coming via automatic update as we speak. In the mean time, keep spreading the word... Field Hockey is on it's way to the main stream!
The new NFHCA Div. 1 Poll was release this morning with the top 5 holding strong. http://nfhca.org/ The rankings are based on NFHCA member/coach votes and records through the previous weekend. Voting members take into account not only the win/loss record but also strength of schedule. Some of you may question why #1 Maryland (10-1) is ranked ahead of #2 Syracuse (12-0) when Syracuse infact beat Maryland this season. The answer lies within their strength of schedules. Maryland has beaten 6 ranked teams so far (#3, 9, 10, 13, 15, 20) while Syracuse has only beaten 4 (#1, 6, 11, 17). If Syracuse was to lose a game, where do you think they would fall in the rankings? It of course depends who they lose to, but keep in mind the other top 5 teams have only lost to each other, except when Iowa lost to #9 Duke. The last month of regular season should be interesting as #1 Maryland and #5 Iowa still have 3 ranked teams to play while #2 Syracuse, #3 Wake Forest and #4 UNC each have 4 ranked teams remaining in their list of things to do.
I am awaiting scores from 3 of our Undefeated High School teams (Penn Manor, Emmaus, and Wyoming Seminary), if you were able to catch the game or know the score, please update it for us!

7 Survive the Weekend, Remain Unbeaten 10/6/08 by Alli
This weekend in High School Field Hockey, Tower Hill lost its first game of the season, 1-0 to Wilmington Friends out of Delaware. The rest of the unbeatens we listed won their games and continue their winning streaks. Emmaus High School won a close one against Owen J. Roberts 1-0 and will play again tomorrow Oct. 7th. Penn Manor beat L.L league opponent Cedar Crest and improves to 15-0, but faces long time rival, Warwick this afternoon. The Hotchkiss School out of CT improves to 6-0 as they beat Northfield Mount Hermon. Wyoming Seminary also won and improves to 14-0. Sem is set to play neighbor Crestwood on Tuesday, Oct 7th. Stay tuned as we update high school scores throughout the week.
In collegiate action, #2 Syracuse (12-0), beat Yale to remain the only Division 1 undefeated team. They will head to Maryland this weekend to play a Big East game against Georgetown. IUP and Bowdoin also won to become the only undefeated teams in their respective divisions. UNC won their rematch with Wake Forest, 4-3, in another classic ACC match-up.

This week in college field hockey, Wake Forest, Indiana Univ. of PA and Bowdoin have secured #1 rankings in their respective divisions. Check out http://ncaa.com/fieldhockey/default.aspx?id=188 for the complete rankings and other collegiate news. Wake Forest will take on North Carolina this Saturday in a classic ACC match-up. This is the second meeting of these two top 5 teams this season, Wake Forest won the first clash in a triple overtime thriller.
Tower Hill remains on top of our National High School rankings on http://hockeypower.com as they continue to find success and remain undefeated thus far. Emmaus High School out of Allentown, PA is also undefeated as well as their State Championship opponent, Penn Manor from Millersville, PA. Check back often to hockeypower.com and look for little green or red arrows indicating movement within the rankings.

As a new member of the Harrow team I am thrilled to be able to share my thoughts on the game we all love, and introduce our newest products that I have been lucky enough to have sneak peak at. There is a new division 1 national #1 this week as The University of Maryland was upset by Syracuse last weekend making Wake Forest #1 followed by Maryland at #2, Syracuse at #3 with Final Four participant UConn at #4 and the reigning National Champions, UNC, at #5. This season is already proving to be one of the most exciting and unpredictable seasons we've seen in recent years, I can't wait to see what happens this weekend let alone the rest of the season!
